Installing Unified Communication Manager (UCM) 7 in VMWare

IPexpert just released its Volume 1 Workbook for new CCIE Voice Blueprint. I installed UCM 7 in VMWare workstation. Here’s the custom settings that I used VMWare 6, 73 GB with SCSI Controller, Red Hat Enterprise 4.0 and 2048 MB RAM.
Pre-allocation of hard disk space will improve performance, its good recommendation but no compulsory if you are running out of space. You can also bump down the RAM after installation to 1024 MB which will of course effect performance but will save your resources. I will post video with step by step instructions soon.
Cisco Introduces CCA (Cisco Certified Architect)

Cisco has introduced new certification known as Cisco Certified Architect. Prerequisites:-
1. Candidate is required to have completed CCDE.
2. There is an application process and requires the candidate to have 10 years of experience.
In Cisco’s certification pyramid, this certification stands above CCIE. I personally think that with CCDE and 10 years of experience as prerequisite very few people would even qualify for this certification. As per this writing, there are only 7 CCDEs worldwide. So don’t worry, CCIE’s respect is not going to be effected by CCA

Cisco Introduces OEQ to CCIE Voice Lab Exam

Cisco recently announced the addition of Open Ended Questions (OEQ) to CCIE Voice Lab Exam.
1. There would be total 4 questions.
2. Candidates will be given 30 minutes to complete them.
3. Once submitted, the candidate cannot return to the questions later.

CCIE Voice v3 Official Update

Finally, Cisco has made announcement for CCIE Voice 3.0 changes. Here are the changes in brief:-
1. CUCM, CUCME and CUCCX would be upgrade to version 7.0.
2. All analog devices such as means ATA, VG248, FXS/FXO ports, Analog phones and Fax machines will be removed.
3. Catalyst 3750 and HWIC-4ESW-POE will replace Catalyst 6500 and 3500 which means no CatOS anymore! Read more
